When We All Work Together

Steph and I began a sort of experiment partway through last week. The idea is that we try to all work in the same space for portions of the day.

The purpose of doing this is to be more efficient, more productive, and more together. Since we’re raising animals for our livelihood, it is something that could work for us.

We’ve seen other farmstead families doing this and read some blogs, as well. It won’t work for everything, of course, but it does seem to work for a surprising number of activities.

Steph says she’s enjoyed getting out with us to do chores in the mornings and evenings, and I’ve been glad to help keep the children running in the right direction for indoor stuff.

This morning Steph and I set out our goals for the week. I then made up a schedule where we can get all the stuff done. More or less, the morning belongs to Steph, and the afternoon is mine.

It’ll be interesting to see how this works out for us. So far, we’re really liking it.

Seth was the least helpful today. He was experimenting with goat droppings.
