Getting Suero and Visiting Alicia

Alicia had asked on Sunday if I could stop by this week to pick up some potatoes she had harvested from her field. I called ahead, and she actually answered. Percy drove the truck.

We first went to José’s to get suero. He asked me why I haven’t been sending him the message, but I told him I had. He wouldn’t believe it until we looked at WhatsApp. “Oh, I forget to check that. I’ll look at them later.” He did say that René has been getting them and telling him about them. He also asked when Pastor Levi will return so they can come to church.

We stopped by Alicia’s on the way back, and she showed us her mountain of potatoes. She said she wished she had a pig to feed. I asked her if she’d like a piglet, and she said she would, so I said I’d bring her one.

After lunch, we went back to get the suero. The young lady wouldn’t let us in without masks. That was a first. They’ve been markedly unconcerned about the virus up until now.

We took Dane, Seth, Nehemías, and Pedro with us. They played with Fridt’s boys while the buckets of suero were filled.

We had the piglet along, so we stopped at Alicia’s again. She was delighted. She said she didn’t think we’d actually bring it. We helped her get a rope around him, and she stood and praised him for how beautiful he was.

She wanted to pay me S/50, but I only took S/20 because she had given us two large sacks of potatoes. She was tickled pink.

On the ride to Alicia’s, I asked Percy about the boxes of tracts I still have to hand out. He thought they would be received now. I offered some to his church, but he said his pastor would be upset if he found them. Interesting…

Steph let the children each decorate a small cake in the afternoon. That brought them a lot of joy. Maybe we’ll be able to make an industry out of it someday.

Prayer:

  • Pray that God would send another family to live here with us.
  • Pray that I could get tracts handed out.
  • Pray for Alicia as she is alone at home.
  • Pray for Esmeralda who is afraid to come to church because of Fernando.
  • Pray for Rafael and Elisabet who plan to come for Bible study tomorrow or Saturday.
  • Pray for us as we consider a trip to Huaral.
