Early October saw us saying goodbye to Tanner. He was with us six months that just flew by.
Tanner was a great help during our school months. I leaned on him pretty heavily to keep daily stuff moving forward on the farm. He stayed busy with a list of projects I had for him, and when he left, he had most things up-to-date. It was good to have a number of repairs done on vehicles and building.
I think the thing I miss the most is having a go-for here. Tanner came to enjoy hopping on the moto and running here or there, and I took advantage of that to have him do my errands in town. Those of you who know me know that I am happiest avoiding town, so it was wonderful to have someone who thought a town run was fun. Since Tanner left, I have had to go to town at least once every week! Come back, Tanner!
Caleb and I both enjoyed having another fellow here to talk with, and Tanner is never happier than when he is talking. If he isn’t telling one of the thousands of stories from his childhood (I’m pretty sure that his childhood was twice as long as mine), he wanted to discuss daily Christian life. We three men see life in three distinct ways. Iron sharpened iron often, and occasionally, a few sparks flew, but we all helped each other to grow. I miss our talks—almost as much as I miss Tanner’s town runs. 😉
Something that brought us all joy was seeing how sad Tanner was to leave us. It lifted my spirits to hear him making plans to visit us in 2025, Lord willing. Who knows, maybe he’ll want to stay even longer sometime? We’ll leave that with the Lord.
We were blessed with a loving servant those six months, and we will miss him. It is a joy to know that he’ll be serving the Lord just as hard in Tennessee as here. Que Dios te bendiga, hermano. Te extrañamos.
