December was a full and joyful month for us, marked by the arrival of many visitors. A wedding in Huaral—the church in northern Peru—brought around 150 people from outside the country, I think. Some of those visitors made their way to the Cusco area, and we had the privilege of hosting and getting to know them.
With a newborn in the house and Stephanie still recovering from surgeries and hospital stays, we were grateful for Caleb’s help in managing all the logistics. He stepped up in a big way, ensuring that everything ran smoothly, from coordinating arrivals to helping with meals and transportation.
Throughout December, we received four different groups, some staying here on the farm, which we always enjoy. Many took the opportunity to visit Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, while others spent time in Cusco touring the city. We also had the pleasure of hosting visitors at church for a couple of Sundays, which was a blessing for everyone.
For the most part, everyone stayed in good health, though one couple struggled with altitude sickness, and another visitor fell ill after a trip to Machu Picchu. But even with those challenges, the time spent together was refreshing. We enjoyed coordinating meals—pollo a la brasa, ceviche, and roasted guinea pig all made appearances on the menu. And, more than anything, we cherished the fellowship.
Hosting isn’t just about giving; it’s also about receiving—receiving encouragement, friendship, and the kind of shared experiences that we hope will last long into the future.
If any of you are looking for a family trip, a wedding trip, or just an adventure, there’s much to do in our area near Cusco. Whether it’s Machu Picchu or the many other sights in the Sacred Valley, we would be glad to help facilitate your visit. If we can host you here at the farm in the casita, we would love to do that. And we hope you’ll spend at least a little time with us. ☺️
To all of you who made the effort to visit, thank you. It was a joy to spend time with you, and we hope to welcome more friends in the future.
