Some of you are aware of the history of the property here. The short version is that the neighbor who sold Levi the property has tried for years to swindle it back.
The latest chapter in the saga is that he “sold” off the bottom field to a young couple who wants to now take posession of it.
Early this year, we were served an eviction notice because we were “illegally on their land.” We were given thirty days.
For the past few months, we’ve been working with an attorney to try to get this sorted out. There’s not much I can do because I’m not the owner, and Levi isn’t here. But so far, they have not kicked us out.
However, random people have been showing up and parking in our drive or in front of the house. We haven’t felt in danger, but it is uncomfortable to have strangers outside your front door.
They show up at least in part to have evidence that they’ve been trying to take possession to prove to the court. Apparently that can help their case.
So we’ve decided, having discussed it with some others in the community, that it would be wise to move the entrance and put in a solid gate that we can keep locked.
This won’t keep people from trespassing, but it should at least keep their vehicles off the property and away from the houses. It also will help keep the neighbors who have cows in the field in front of us from abusing our lane by using it constantly. They can really put some wear and tear on it.
The legal battle is still ongoing in the background. I’ve tried to get information from the lawyers, but they don’t have much to say. We aren’t involved in that process really, and I would be thankful for it to stay that way.
In the meantime, we will follow the old adage: Good fences make good neighbors.

Hopefully, the entrance project will cost around $1,000βand we’ve received that amount! Thank you so much for helping us with this project!
May God bless each of you who shared. We’re grateful for the support.
