A Visit from Grandaddy Ellis and Cleaning in Pacca (36 of 100)

While Nathan was here, we enjoyed a visit from his grandaddy Ellis Beery. It was good to reconnect with Ellis; he had been our pastor in Virginia years ago.

I enjoyed having a brother here who could speak Spanish and who was willing to preach. 😁 It was a pleasure to share with him.

While Ellis was here, he helped with odds and ends projects around the farm. I was impressed with how he got Willow to talk. She is generally quite shy and unwilling to talk, even to Steph and me, but she opened right up with Ellis and practically chattered. It was quite something.

One of the projects we enjoyed doing while he was here was cleaning in Pacca. Once a month on a Wednesday evening, we have a work project at someone’s place. That time was Esmeralda’s turn.

At the time, she was tasked with cleaning the plaza in her village. Each person has to accept work in the village, or they are heavily fined. It worked perfectly for the church to come that Wednesday evening and help her knock that project out.

Esmeralda then served us supper. We had all worked hard and fast, so we were tired. But I think Nathan may have been more beat than some from running the weed eater.

Ellis accompanied Nathan back to the States at the end of his visit, which was quite nice for Nathan to have someone fluent in Spanish along home.

Willow really enjoyed doing dishes with Ellis.
