Alicia’s Anointing (42 of 100)

In June, our family helped Alicia harvest some of her corn. That day, she came away with a small scratch on her foot. It had seemed like she had just gotten a piece of dried cornstalk in her boot or something, but the scratch got worse very quickly.

We don’t know what caused it, but the wound became quite infected, and the foot started dying around the injury. We wondered later if it could have been a spider bite; there are some spiders here that cause necrosis.

Regardless, Alicia was in and out of the hospital, but the foot injury worsened. We took her a couple of times. Finally, we ended up bringing her animals to the farm here to care for them because she eventually couldn’t walk. It was decided that she would move to Cusco with her daughter Jhoanna who could care for her.

Alicia was quite sad that she could not be at the revival meetings because of her foot. Andrew and I talked and decided to offer her anointing. We went to visit her. I think it was Kenton, Andrew, Orlando, Steph, and I who were there. We explained the biblical practice, and a few of us shared testimonies of how anointing has blessed us or those in our lives.

Alicia asked for anointing, so we had the service there at her house. The next day at the Revival meeting, Alicia arrived, walking with a bit of a limp. She showed me her foot, and the wound had closed over with new, pink skin. It had been a deep hole the day before.

In only a couple of days, you could barely see where the wound was, though she walked with a slight limp for a couple of weeks. The week following the anointing, Alcia walked in from the road half a kilometer to visit us and to help Steph for the day. The change was amazing.

Alicia praises the Lord for healing her so quickly. It was a miracle to see how overnight, the wound closed up. We were all glad she was able to join us for the final few Revival meetings.

God always hears our prayers, and He always answers. Sometimes it is, “No,” sometimes, “Yes,” and sometimes, “Trust and wait.” We are grateful that He saw in His wisdom that it was best to heal Alicia. It strengthened her faith and the faith of all the church here. Praise the Lord!

The day Alicia’s foot was scratched, we were in her field, harvesting her corn.
In the hospital, they put her on IV antibiotics because her foot was infected.
This was after they cleaned it at the hospital. You can see the black part where the tissue was dying.
Alicia’s daughter came and stayed with her a few days. They washed her foot with an herbal tea a couple times a day.
This was another visit to the hospital. Her whole foot and up her leg was swelling and infected.
Our children stayed with Alicia and helped her for a while.
Before we brought the animals, our children brought the cows in from a couple kilometers away.
Worse and worse…
The morning after the anointing
This was one or two days later at church.
The following week, Alicia came to visit. She and Abbey cut out quilt squares.
