Juanito Is Ten and Can Use a Saw 😰 (57 of 100)

These days, I occasionally hear the circular saw whir life in the shop. Every time I hear it, I see lopped off fingers and limbs, and I begin praying for my boys. I have given numerous lessons and demonstrations for how to use the saw, but I am continuously concerned that it won’t be enough.

Some people roll their eyes at my worrisome approach to letting my boys use power tools. Their baby boys used their first power tools before giving up their pacifiers and pullups. Others, upon hearing that a ten-year-old is using a saw, begin looking up how to contact some protective service. I suppose I fall fearfully in the middle.

But Juanito and Dane have been happily turning out various wood projects. We have more small stools and tables than we will ever need. They are working on building a tree house in the pine trees edging the upper field now. Juanito periodically asks me if we could go get some more boards because they have used up most of what we had in the shop, but I’ve decided we won’t buy any more before The Move. So, they are steadily working through the scrap pile now. The benefit is that whoever inherits the shop won’t have so much to clean out.

In other news, the Lord provided a minister to the church in Huaral in their recent ordination. AndrΓ©s Sommers was ordained through use of the lot. His wife is Escocia, a sister formerly of Puno, who is fluent in Quechua. The brothers in Huaral are now in the process of seeking the Lord for who from their ministerial team of five men will become the team for Izcuchaca. You can pray wisdom for them as they make this decision, I think later this week.

In other other news, Sra. Roxana continued with her chemo treatments through the month of May. She has another treatment scheduled for next Tuesday, June 16. If you would like to help cover that treatment, contact me. The full cost is $800.
