Alicia has ten or so apple trees. The apples are small and greenish; they remind me of a crab apple. She sells these apples each year as part of her annual income.
We decided to help her harvest, so we went as a family and spent several hours picking. We made a nice dent in two or three trees before the littles (and the bigs) became too tired to be very helpful. It was a lot of fun. Alicia made a meal for us as thanks, and she keeps sending bags of apples every week, which Zemmi has been turning into applesauce.
Kenton, Dane, Shawn, and Seth went the next week and worked for several hours to more or less finish the harvest. I wish I knew how many bushels it turned out to be; we guess it is maybe around 30 bushels that she has piled up in her storage room, which would be around 1,300 pounds (~600 kg). That will be a nice bit of income for her.
