We cut our trip to Puno one day short so we could get back in time to receive visitors. We have had more visitors in the final few months of our time here than we did spread out over the first several years we were here. We’ve been glad for each one.
Simon, Kathy, and Edith are Daniel and Shelby’s children. Daniel and Shelby will be coming to Izcuchaca only a few days after we move, so I guess the youth came to spy out the land. Unfortunately for them, they won’t be able to join their parents because of other obligations they have in Huaral.
The young folks all went over to Esmeralda’s one evening to help her with a community project, which involved butchering chickens. I think they took only one photo of that. Another evening, they were with Alicia. It must have been a good time because they all came back in high spirits, still laughing from Alicia’s stories.
They were with us over Sunday, then Steph, Tanner, and I took them into Cusco Monday morning. Tanner and Simon went off on their own adventure, while the ladies tagged along with us until it was time for them to catch a taxi to the airport.
