We are having more and more “last” things. This was our final church activity before out move. We’ve greatly enjoyed our monthly church activity. Thanks to Caleb for having helped plant the idea!
Each month, we have had an activity in a church family’s home, usually helping with a work project of some sort. This has been a great way for us to work together every month, which has helped to build closer relationships. I will miss that.
For our final activity, Sra. Cirila was on the schedule. The children worked on cleaning up the ditch and front yard, cutting weeds and gathering trash. The ladies worked at cleaning the house. They hauled out sacks of dirt and trash. Kenton and I worked on totally redoing the electrical in her house.
Cirila had only one light and one receptacle in her house. We ran three lights and four receptacles with heavier gauge wire. Before, she had wires just hanging around, held up with strings. We were able to get everything stapled up securely and neatly, which was quite satisfying.
Kenton went back a few days later and added two more lights and receptacles in the utility room and outside the back door. Cirila now has 500% more lights and 600% more receptacles than before. It makes me happy to think about how much that will improve her quality of life.
Esmeralda took Cirila in to the hospital twice that week for checkups regarding her knee. Cirila’s pain is getting worse, and she is finding it quite hard to walk. Steph went into Cusco the same week to schedule another appointment to get the referral for surgery, but they said they would not allow Cirila to have another visit in the month of June; the next appointment can be requested in July, which means that we will no longer be around to see Cirila through to her surgery.
